Conduit Bending Calculator
Lay out conduit bends fast: offsets, three-point and four-point saddles, and 90° stub-ups. Codewire gives the distance between marks, shrink, and the multiplier so you bend it right the first time.
How to use it
- Pick the bend type: offset, 3-point saddle, 4-point saddle, or 90° stub.
- Enter the rise/depth and the bend angle (or conduit size for take-up).
- Read the mark distances and shrink instantly.
Offset distance between bends = rise ÷ sin(angle); shrink = rise × tan(angle ÷ 2). Common multipliers: 10° ≈ 6.0, 22.5° ≈ 2.6, 30° = 2.0, 45° ≈ 1.4, 60° ≈ 1.15. A 90° stub mark = desired height − the take-up for the conduit size.
Frequently asked questions
What is the multiplier for a 30-degree offset?
2.0. The distance between the two bends equals the offset height times 2 (1 ÷ sin 30°). Codewire uses the exact cosecant so other angles are precise too.
How do you calculate conduit shrink on an offset?
Shrink = offset height × tan(angle ÷ 2). For a 30° offset that's about 0.27 inches of shrink per inch of rise.
